Beta T-Shirts (Designs&Early Orders)

Hey everyone,
there are a lot of you who would like Beta T-shirts to wear at homecoming (and why wouldn't you? they're going to be pretty amazing). We need 2 wks time for orders to get delivered. Given that, if you want a t-shirt in your hands before homecoming, get your dues into Mr. Kroeger by this Monday, Sept 24th!! This is imperative (hence the bold). Plus, given that you're going to eventually order t-shirts anyway, why not get them early? Important Note: Kroeger may not have exact change, so I recommend bring a check (made out to Campbell High School)!
Now, onto t-shirt designs. We're going to be cutting off voting early to get in the t-shirts, we have a total of 6 t-shirt design submissions & they all look pretty awesome
(drag and drop the images to the address bar for full size)

What we'll probably end up doing is fusing the back of one t-shirt with the front of the other. Because Beta Style has gotten so much positive feedback that it would win for the t-shirt design in the front if we put it to a poll. That being the case, we'll probably incorporate the back-side of one of the other designs submitted to us. :) What we need you guys to decide on is the COLOR. Here are the options:
Option #1

Option #2

Option #3

Option #4

Option #5

GO VOTE ON THE POLLS ASAP!
Thank you guys! Let me know if you have any questions/concerns. Also, be free to comment!

Fall Charities

Charity: Water
  • We're a non-profit organization bringing clean, safe drinking water to people in developing countries. 100% of all public donations directly fund water projects.
  • Diseases from unsafe water and lack of basic sanitation kill more people every year than all forms of violence, including war. Children are especially vulnerable, as their bodies aren't strong enough to fight diarrhea, dysentery and other illnesses.
  • Water is also far away; Women and children have to walk long miles to get water.
  • Just $20 can give one person clean, safe drinking water.
Stella’s Voice (Christian organization)
  • Orphans in Moldova who are either kicked out at the age of 18 or simply just do not have a place to go.
  • Many girls get taken away, trafficked into sex slaves. Many boys are taken and trafficked into construction work slaves in Russia.
  • Many also die of starvations and lack of shelter
  • Stella’s House = girls, Simon’s House = boys
  • Work to give these children an education and learn to love themselves through God
Teach for America
  • Raising money for children in low-income families to get a proper education in America!
  • Recruit and train teachers specially for this program
  • Donating money can bring textbooks, learning materials, and proper teacher training
Doctors Without Borders
  • an international medical humanitarian organization created by doctors and journalists in France in 1971.
  • provides independent, impartial assistance in more than 60 countries to people whose survival is threatened by violence, neglect, or catastrophe, primarily due to armed conflict, epidemics, malnutrition, exclusion from health care, or natural disasters
  • The organization is committed to bringing quality medical care to people in crisis regardless of their race, religion, or political affiliation.
  • Donations help towards medical fees, medicines, etc
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Atl
  • carefully matches at-risk youths with caring, adult role models. Research proves that children enrolled in Big Brothers Big Sisters programs are more likely to improve in school and in their relationships with family and friends, and less likely to skip school or use illegal drugs or alcohol
  • founded for the sole purpose of enriching the lives of children and helping them achieve their full potential through professionally-supported, one-to-one mentoring relationships
  • Donating helps: Recruit new Big Brother and Big Sister volunteers,  Provide cultural and social activities to enrich the opportunities for children, etc
  • Personally go and help volunteer (4 hours a month)

  • here's a directory of all the children we can sponsor:https://sponsor.savethechildren.org/
  • once we've committed to a child, we provide that child $28 every month (continuous donations) -- we'll get occasional photos and letters from that child to know how he or she is doing with our support :)

Why?:We believe that videos are a powerful catalyst for change. Our goal is to create entertaining videos that are fun to watch and that will inspire, enable and empower others to do good as well. Our videos advocate for important causes by raising awareness, fundraise for social-impact organizations, and spotlight ordinary people doing extraordinary things. For our advocacy and spotlight videos, we package them with articles and actions to help you learn more and get involved. For our videos that fundraise for social-impact organizations, we allow individuals like you to become sponsors who pledge to donate 1 penny per view during that month. That means if we get 100 views, a sponsor would donate $1, but if we get 100,000 views, a sponsor would donate $1000. We call our model “Active Viewership.” By integrating the appeal of online videos with a spirit of philanthropy, we have created a model that draws on your attention and engagement. The Impact:The Jubilee Project has produced over 60 videos, supported 15 different causes and organizations, and raised over $30,000.

Beta Meeting 09/14

Hey you guys! Thank you to those who came to the meeting Friday morning!! :D We got through a lot of information so expect this to be a fairly long post, haha. Again, I want to emphasize how important it is that members are kept aware of all things going on Beta-related (service projects, fundraisers, polls, etc) so I highly encourage you to Follow By Email (to the left) so you can continue getting reminders and be free to email us any questions/concerns you may have.
First off, a few reminders:
  1. DUES & APPLICATIONS ARE DUE BY FRI, SEPT 28TH to Mr. Kroeger in rm. 208
    • Candlelight Induction will take place in Early-Mid October!
  2. SIGN-UPS FOR COMMITTEES END FRI, SEPT 28TH
  3. POLLS FOR FALL CHARITY CLOSE ON FRI, SEPT 28TH @ 7:30am
  4. T-SHIRT DESIGNS ARE DUE BY NEXT MEETING, FRI, SEPT 28TH
    • Surprisingly, we have yet to receive any designs thus far for t-shirts! For this reason, we're pushing back the date for designs to Friday, Sept 28th. I highly encourage members to start submitting. What better way to show Beta spirit than from the amazing t-shirts we'll have? Keep in mind, these designs do not have to be super pretty. We just need a sketch - it's the ideas that matter!! The t-shirt company will be the ones to craft the designs!
Now, onto what we discussed during the meeting:
  1. Beta Garden
    • Thank you for those who came to the cleanup that past Tuesday! We were glad to see lots of people attend; 1/2 people planned for renovations (flowers, patio set, etc) , other 1/2 pulled weed and cleaned up
    • MAKE A SKETCH: How would YOU like the Beta Garden to look? This is a MEMBER garden; we want to see your ideas and creativity manifest in the renovation. As such, we want members to start sketching how they think the Beta Garden should be re-designed (don't worry about it being pretty, it's the ideas the matter!) For instance, where should the patio go? Should we have a fountain? Where would the plants be? How will we cover up the big sewage drain the middle?  Click here for a picture of the garden that you can reference for your sketches. Additionally, be free to come by the 400 hall to see the garden first hand to sketch as well; the door is almost always open so you can go in. Sketches can be emailed to Roma (roma.k.parikh@gmail.com)
    • For any art students (or those who like creating art), we're planning to paint a mural on the back wall, so everyone can see it when walking by that hall. Like the rest of the garden, we want the mural to be representative of the the Beta members; basically, we'd rather you guys make it and your personal touch. If you're interested in helping out with the mural, contact Roma!
    • GOAL: to finish the garden by Christmas Season so we can hang up lights and decorate! :)
  2. Fall Fundraising
    • Polls are up! Start voting for your favorite fall charity organization! Voting ends on Fri, Sept 28th @7:30AM! I'll have a separate post below regarding what each organization does and where are money would go if we raised money for them!
    • Our Fall Charity Event: Halloween Candy Gram Sales (hosted by Fundraising Committee)
      • Similar to the Candy Cane Grams we sold last year, except with different candies (candy corn this time, perhaps?)
      • If you want to help out, contact Matthias (matthias.wilder1@gmail.com)!
    • Other events suggested by fundraising are in the process of getting admin approval

Feb 25th: Beta Candle Light Induction Ceremony

Hey you guys,
we have a list of really important announcements about the past meetings and upcoming events. First and foremost, this Friday, Febuary 24th will be Beta Club's Candle Light Induction Ceremony! The Induction will be after school and more information will be sent out tomorrow (wed) afternoon. Please spread the word!
We will be having a meeting this upcoming Friday morning at 7:45AM! We will be discussing spring fundraisers (bring ideas!), finalizing convention details for those attending, and briefly go over procedures for the Induction ceremony!

For those have not attended the past few meetings, we talked about a countywide fundraising event called Kefty Kasino. On February 25th, Kefty is hosting a fundraiser, Kefty Kasino, for Camp Jenny, a camp which is run by teens all over the southeast for underprivileged, inner-city Atlanta children. Every year, temple youth groups from all around the southeast raise money throughout the year and send it to Camp Jenny. Kefty Kasino is Kefty’s largest fundraiser for Camp Jenny. Kefty Kasino is a large scale event for teens all over Atlanta. There will be a variety of casino games including a Texas Hold ‘Em tournament where the grand prize is an iPad. There will also be a raffle where many large prizes will be raffled off. This year, Kefty has decided to open up this fundraiser to various Honor Societies and service clubs from around Cobb County. We will be offering SERVICE HOURS (great opp) for students to come to Kefty Kasino.
More information about Kefty Kasino will be sent out shortly via email!
