Fall Charities

Charity: Water
  • We're a non-profit organization bringing clean, safe drinking water to people in developing countries. 100% of all public donations directly fund water projects.
  • Diseases from unsafe water and lack of basic sanitation kill more people every year than all forms of violence, including war. Children are especially vulnerable, as their bodies aren't strong enough to fight diarrhea, dysentery and other illnesses.
  • Water is also far away; Women and children have to walk long miles to get water.
  • Just $20 can give one person clean, safe drinking water.
Stella’s Voice (Christian organization)
  • Orphans in Moldova who are either kicked out at the age of 18 or simply just do not have a place to go.
  • Many girls get taken away, trafficked into sex slaves. Many boys are taken and trafficked into construction work slaves in Russia.
  • Many also die of starvations and lack of shelter
  • Stella’s House = girls, Simon’s House = boys
  • Work to give these children an education and learn to love themselves through God
Teach for America
  • Raising money for children in low-income families to get a proper education in America!
  • Recruit and train teachers specially for this program
  • Donating money can bring textbooks, learning materials, and proper teacher training
Doctors Without Borders
  • an international medical humanitarian organization created by doctors and journalists in France in 1971.
  • provides independent, impartial assistance in more than 60 countries to people whose survival is threatened by violence, neglect, or catastrophe, primarily due to armed conflict, epidemics, malnutrition, exclusion from health care, or natural disasters
  • The organization is committed to bringing quality medical care to people in crisis regardless of their race, religion, or political affiliation.
  • Donations help towards medical fees, medicines, etc
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Atl
  • carefully matches at-risk youths with caring, adult role models. Research proves that children enrolled in Big Brothers Big Sisters programs are more likely to improve in school and in their relationships with family and friends, and less likely to skip school or use illegal drugs or alcohol
  • founded for the sole purpose of enriching the lives of children and helping them achieve their full potential through professionally-supported, one-to-one mentoring relationships
  • Donating helps: Recruit new Big Brother and Big Sister volunteers,  Provide cultural and social activities to enrich the opportunities for children, etc
  • Personally go and help volunteer (4 hours a month)
    • Must be long term though!
Save the Children Foundation
  • serves impoverished, marginalized and vulnerable children and families in more than 120 nations
  • we sponsor a child from developing countries and ensure them fresh water, food, shelter, an education, all of life's most basic needs
  • here's a directory of all the children we can sponsor:https://sponsor.savethechildren.org/
  • once we've committed to a child, we provide that child $28 every month (continuous donations) -- we'll get occasional photos and letters from that child to know how he or she is doing with our support :)
**EDIT: If not to sponsor a child, our money towards the Save the Children Foundation can go for an array of other causes (education, health, etc.) --
World Wildlife Federation (http://worldwildlife.org/)
  • World's leading conservation organization
  • "We seek to be the voice for those creatures who have no voice. We speak for their future. We seek to apply the wealth of our talents, knowledge, and passion to making the world wealthier in life, in spirit, and in living wonder of nature."

Jubilee Project: http://jubileeproject.org/
The mission of The Jubilee Project is to make videos for a good cause. Our vision is to produce entertaining content that will empower, enable, and inspire others to do good as well. Why?:We believe that videos are a powerful catalyst for change. Our goal is to create entertaining videos that are fun to watch and that will inspire, enable and empower others to do good as well. Our videos advocate for important causes by raising awareness, fundraise for social-impact organizations, and spotlight ordinary people doing extraordinary things. For our advocacy and spotlight videos, we package them with articles and actions to help you learn more and get involved. For our videos that fundraise for social-impact organizations, we allow individuals like you to become sponsors who pledge to donate 1 penny per view during that month. That means if we get 100 views, a sponsor would donate $1, but if we get 100,000 views, a sponsor would donate $1000. We call our model “Active Viewership.” By integrating the appeal of online videos with a spirit of philanthropy, we have created a model that draws on your attention and engagement. The Impact:The Jubilee Project has produced over 60 videos, supported 15 different causes and organizations, and raised over $30,000.
