We'll be putting together Candy Grams this Thursday afternoon in Mr. Kroeger's room! We'll bring in some holiday sweets/drinks (maybe some Christmas cookies or cake pops? haha) and have a small-scale Christmas party while we prepare the Candy Grams! :] We can use as much help as we can get so I invite everyone to come. We might even play some Christmas music in the background to get everyone in the holiday spirits? haha. If this is not convincing enough, keep in mind that you can get Beta Hours!

--> On a side note, we have a handful of volunteers who are willing to dress up as Santa to deliver the candy grams. ;) haha. Anyone have a Santa suit at their disposal or think they can get a hold of one for a day? That'll def be the highlight of exam week.

Additionally, we'll be exchanging gifts for Secret Santa this Friday! We still have 4 slips left! If you didn't draw a name to become someone's Secret Santa, please msg Angela!

Upcoming Events

Heya everyone,
the next meeting (Fri., Dec. 2nd) is going to be an important one. We have lots of upcoming events and information that we'd like to go over. We want all of our members to be up-to-date with club activities and so I urge that you tell your friends in Beta to be there this Friday.
Here's a brief overview of what we'll be discussing at the upcoming meeting:

1. Holiday Benefit Concert: Friday, Dec. 9th
The concert is coming up pretty fast. Our ticket sales will start Mon.,Dec. 5th and we'll be signing up for members to sell the tickets at the next meeting. We need a few volunteers from each lunch block so we can switch-off days.
Additionally, members will sign-up to bring food and drinks next meeting. Possibly something holiday-themed (gingerbread cookies, candy canes, ect.) that we can sell during the concert. Again, all proceeds go directly to Charity:Water.

Rehearsals for the concert are this upcoming Thursday.

2. Candy Grams
Heard of the saying "Kill two birds with one stone"? Whoever will be selling the Benefit Concert tickets for that specific lunch block will also try to market Candy Grams for the holiday season. All proceeds from the Candy-Gram sale will go to Atlanta Children's Center.

3. Secret Santa
Most of us aren't well-acquainted with everyone in the club. In addition to being a lot of fun, we thought hosting a Secret Santa would be a great club bonding experience. :) It'll be a way for members to break away from the people who they typically hang out with and form new friendships. More information will be given on Friday.
We'll start drawing names at the next meeting.

4. T-Shirts
T-shirt orders will soon be underway. Here's a look at our design for this year:
Drag to the address bar for full-size
Be free to make a comment/suggestion!

5. Induction Ceremony & Beta Banquet
After Winter Break, Beta will be hosting a formal induction ceremony followed by a banquet. More information to come.

11/5 Meeting

It's decided: Our t-shirt design is "Let's make Beta Time" with Borat's thumbs up pose. On the back should be  all our names.
We'll try and get a drawn-up design and pricing over the next two meetings.

The Holiday Benefit Concert should be Friday, December 9.
If you've already talked to someone who wants to perform, let me know who and what act! You can Facebook message me. This isn't a trap for them; it's merely to gauge the numbers.

Beta Garden will meet this Thursday! If you're on landscaping committee, this is a great time to be involved.
Remember to keep track of your hours.

10/28 Meeting

Thank you for writing so many Thanksgiving letters for The Bert Show's Big Thank You! Now, dozens of soldiers will be getting a sweet letter for their holidays, thanks to your efforts.

Try and keep track of your own community service hours. Remember: every letter = 10 min of Beta-specific hours
Don't forget you need 10 hours (5 Beta-specific) this semester!

Dues should be turned in by the end of this week.

The poll for Fundraising is closing soon. If you haven't voted yet, go go go!
The Talent for a Cause Benefit Concert's cause is... Charity: Water. Look for more information on this later.

New T-shirt design!
KC and I came up with a Borat-themed shirt.
If you don't know what "sexytime" is, familiarize yourself:
So the shirt would be a design like:
and it would say "Let's make Beta time"
Colors can change.
Names may possibly be listed on the back.

10/14 Meeting

Come up with creative T-shirt designs!
Suggested: "You go Beta, you go Greata''
Please be free to comment below on any t-shirt design/slogan ideas you might have! We are hoping to get these t-shirts designed finalized by mid-November.
  • Dues/Applications should be turned in by the end of this month, so if you haven't, do so!
  • Landscaping/any other members will work on the Beta Garden every Tuesday and Thursday after school - it's mostly clean-up for now, but soon, we'll be planting things!
  • Talent for a Cause members: find a cause to donate the Benefit Concert funds to, and comment on this post:
  • Fundraising Committee: The original homework was to research one or two organizations that you would like club to raise money for. In addition to this, please bring in two or three fundraising ideas. (for example, we had discussed a bake sell in the past) Like I said before, I will ask that committee members present their ideas during the meeting. At the end of the upcoming meeting, we will vote upon prospective charity organizations that the club can raise money for and the type of fundraiser we may have (this is in addition to Talent for a Cause). If you have any questions, be free to comment below.
One last quick note: if you would like to make a powerpoint to present to the class along with your ideas, be free to! If it helps convey the message, it is encouraged. Either send it in via email (campbellbetaclub@gmail.com) or have it on a flashdrive so we can pull it up during the meeting.

Talent for a Cause Benefit Concert Planning

Okay, TforC members!

It's time to start planning for a Benefit Concert before the holidays - we could even make it into a Holiday Benefit Concert.

  • Anybody anywhere (yes, this means people outside of Campbell!) can perform anything relating to the arts (including music, rap/spoken word/poetry, dance, skits, etc.).
  • Funds will be donated to a certain cause.
  • Date is TBA. I'm meeting with Mrs. Magee next week, and will have a date then. I'm hoping a Friday in early December.
Post a comment here by next week with a cause you think we should donate to. Give a link or a mini description, and we'll have the club vote on one at the meeting.
